Women into Industry (WIN)
WIN mentoring program – everybody wins
Launched in 2001, WIN is the unique mentoring program of Novartis and the University of Basel. Its purpose is to support young female academics from all fields (mentees) and to offer them the opportunity to gather in-depth information about their professional options in the private sector.
Over the course of one year, the mentees are supervised by an experienced specialist or manager (mentor) from Novartis and individually coached. Personal objectives are set at the beginning of the program and reviewed in monthly meetings. Mentors also open doors by helping mentees contact other key individuals both inside and outside the company. Workshops are also offered in which mentees discuss topics with their mentors such as career planning, networking, interviewing and innovative working models.
“WIN is a success story. This versatile program offers young female academics the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the working world and do away with any existing, unrealistic expectations. WIN is also a valuable building block on the path to true diversity within our company. The staying power of this program proves that supporting women is a priority at Novartis.”
